History of ILPPG

Institut Latihan Perindustrian is under the management of Jabatan Tenaga Manusia (JTM). While JTM is under Ministry of Human Resources. The history of the establishment of Jabatan Tenaga Manusia Training Institute was initiated since 1964 by the establishment of Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kuala Lumpur.

Subsequently, by the year 1982, ILP Pasir Gudang was built with estimation of 35km away from the city of Johor Bahru and 5km from the city centre of Pasir Gudang; the biggest industrial city in Johor. This second Industrial Training Institute in Malaysia and the first institute for South Zone covers an area of 20 acres land was officiated by Dato’Mak Hon Kam (Minister of Labour) on 11th May 1985 and started training and producing skilled manpower since 1982.

The courses which were offered during that time was General Mechanics, General Machining, Arc & Gas Welding, Steel Structures , Mechanical vehicle / motor , Electrician, Plumbing & Sanitary , Timber & Joinery and Bricks. And a total of 80 graduates from ILP Pasir Gudang have successfully completed a full-time training during the year.

The number of students kept increasing and in the year of 1984, ILP Pasir Gudang started to offer part-time courses together with the existing full-time courses. Until now, ILP Pasir Gudang has succeed to become an institution of choice with 12 courses of various engineering key fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Production. ILP Pasir Gudang has trained more than 50000 skilled workforce in various fields and always relevant in fulfilling the industrial needs.
